Big Bear

Hey guys! I'm back from the mountains, I went to Big Bear and stayed in a family friend's cabin. Thanks so much for the vlog comments, I hope to do another one soon. I figured I'd show you a few pictures from my trip.

The view from the cabin I stayed in.

Uhh goin batshit insane on a sugar high?

The "chapstick ad" at the supermarket LOL.

I think this was boulder bay, I was wearing a secondhand plaid shirt, American Apparel shirt and bathing suit, thrifted messenger, and Stacey Adams shoes. My legs have been updated from tan lines to sunburned... and hopefully then to no tan lines.

Goofin off with Lindz and Joe. Lindsi took all these pics, she's a great photographer! Not the cabin we stayed in by the way.

I was wearing a secondhand plaid shirt, see thru shirt from American Apparel, Target shorts, and Stacey Adams shoes. I wore that plaid shirt pretty much everyday I was there.

I end up loving candid shots of me the most, like this one. I just really love the photo it has nothing to do with me.

Expect Denim on Denim to be on its regular schedule for now on, I got some cool stuff to blog about this week including a follow up post on some cool finds from my trip!

Quick Outfit Post

Wore this out to a quick dinner with the family. If anybody else wants to ask a question for the Q&A vlog, I'm planning on doing it on Monday so you guys have until then. :)

I'm wearing a secondhand Levi's jacket and plaid shirt, Cheap Monday jeans, and vintage boots.

Not really much to say about this outfit besides the fact that I put the clothes on, wore them, and eventually took them off. That, and I enjoy (wearing) the outfit.

Yesterday's Outfit/Q&A Vlog

It was a beautiful summer day yesterday, so naturally I spent it inside all day watching DVDs and on youtube.

I'm wearing a secondhand plaid shirt, skull necklace from my dad, homemade alligator tooth necklace, blue leather cuff and two watches from a flea market, deep v from American Apparel, Cheap Monday pants, and secondhand calf hair boots.

My inspiration was this picture of Keith Richards, and when you look at the two outfits, the inspiration makes as much as sense as a 400 dollar t-shirt. But it doesn't have to, merely how my mind works.
Picture from child of the moon.

WORKIN IT.

The deetz.

Q&A Vlog

I'm gonna do a vlog soon, and I figured a fun thing to do would be a Q&A vlog. So if you guys have any questions you'd like to ask me about myself or about fashion or about whatever, leave them in a comment in this post or shoot me an email (my email address is in the sidebar).

THE LIZARD KING

My friend recently turned me on to this site, which offers an impressive collection of pictures of both The Doors and Jim Morrison, so I figured I'd share some of my favorites. He is what I wish I looked like everyday.

P.S. I'm no longer sick, bonne journee! Oh yeah and thanks for all the well wishes! :)

1st Day of Summer!

Summer means being able to wear whatever I want and not having to worry about practicality (although heat is an issue). I didn't do anything too exciting today, because I'm under the weather and have lost my voice (which SUCKS because I love to talk). I sound like an 80 year old Russian woman who has smoked all their life, that or Darth Vader.

I'm wearing a secondhand track jacket, American Apparel see thru shirt, random rings, watch from my dad, pentagram from ebay, Target shorts, and Stacey Adams shoes.

Pettin the kitty .

I hope all of you guys have an amazing summer! Now I'm gonna go try to kick my sickness' ass with some r&r. Later!

P.S. I failed to mention that I got a haircut yesterday, although you probably noticed. :)

GHOST RANCH

Even though this is a fashion blog, I had to share this amazing home with you. Because sometimes a perfect setting completes an outfit too, like how a perfect frame can complete a painting. It's the artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s restored Ghost Ranch, her first New Mexico home.

For more than 40 years Georgia O’Keeffe spent her summers at Ghost Ranch, some 60 miles northwest of Santa Fe. “I loved it immediately,” she said of her first visit to New Mexico. “From then on I was always on my way back.” O’Keeffe would climb the ladder to the roof, where she often slept.
I can't really imagine anything more utterly serene than sleeping under the stars.

This is the breakfast room. I don't know about you, but for me breakfast is an important part of starting the day (Although if you're reading a fashion blog, I can assume you don't care about eating at all. Kidding, kidding.), and this looks like a perfect place to ease into the day. The wide windows let you see out into the beautiful surrounding landscape, a quintessential part of my dream home has to be lots of windows with something to see.

A ledge displays bones and other objects found by the artist. “The bones seem to cut sharply to the center of something that is keenly alive on the desert even though it is vast and empty and untouchable—and knows no kindness with all its beauty,” she once said.
I find her take on bones profoundly beautiful.

The Le Corbusier–style lounge chair in the studio is original to the house. Small items were given to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe by her friend and associate, Juan Hamilton. The house is now used for research activities.
I can really relate to her minimalistic style, my ideal home would really be exactly like this.

The house, with Cerro Pedernal in the distance. “I suppose I could live in a jail as long as I had a little patch of blue sky to look at,” O’Keeffe said. “The kinds of things one sees in cities . . . it’s better to look out the window at the sage.”

You can read the whole article here and see all the pictures here. Tomorrow is the last day of school...

PIERNAS

Over the weekend my parents bought me these American Apparel swim trunks I've had my eye on. I've never owned a pair of shorts so short, I love them though. I'm having fun styling them. Lesson 1 of short shorts styling is: never wear them with a jacket that covers your ass or you'll look like you're wearing no pants. But pants are so last year anyways, right guys? Who needs pants when you can look like this, but more on that later.

I'm wearing a secondhand Levi's shirt, American Apparel shirt and bathing suit, random leather bracelets, and Stacey Adams shoes.

Yeah I gotta tanline. That's what years of P.E. shorts do to you... Everybody knows the cure to a tanline is to show it off.

Many more outfits to come with these bad boys. You can really dress em up if you want to. I have an obsession with wearing pajama/athletic/other shorts with less casual clothes in a style I've dubbed 'Lounge Chic' LOL. Aka your sweats with some 12 hundred dollar heels.

You know it's summer when you've said to hell with pants.

P.S. Miguel over at El Bosquejo did a post on me! Thanks so much Miguel, please take a look at his awesome menswear blog.

50's Western Button Up

The other day I found this chemise incroyable that I completely forgot existed, in other words I stumbled upon it smashed into a corner in my room (As you can see by the wrinkles). I actually love this shirt though, my dad gave it to me after a friend of his' dad passed away and gave the shirt to my dad and he gave it to me since it was ill-fitting. It fits me relatively well but it is a bit long so I tucked it in. My dad said it was from the 50s. I appreciate it even more now, since back in the day my love for western style clothes wasn't as developed.

I opted to wear it with my thrifted messenger, Cheap Monday pants, secondhand calf hair boots, skull ring, watch and belt from a flea market. Pinky makes a guest appearance in these pictures.

Detail shot of the shirt, I love the western details like the pockets. I decided to wear the ring with this outfit because I feel it gives a predominately western style ensemble a bit of a twist/edge.

I played around with my sharkskin shirt with this outfit. I loved the added texture and I always like to play around with the concept of how you "should" wear garments. I was inspired to try this by this picture from Vogue Paris Mai 2009. I always consider when someone makes me look at how to wear a garment in a way I would never have imagined, to be very strong styling skills. As you may have noticed by now my inspiration is rarely literal...

from les scans de diorette
Something about the way the jean shorts are worn under the skirt, it's a total "fashion faux pas" by definition, but makes me think outside the box. Granted this is done in the photo probably solely for the photograph itself, but there's something deceptive about the styling that I love. I have to say it's also a bit of fashion anarchy too, it'd probably get the 'What Not to Wear' people a little antsy. I think Margiela does this too with a lot of his clothes, taking garments and giving them a completely new purpose with his artisanal line. In this day and age, where we've seen so much, for someone to do something artistic that really makes me think is something I applaud.

Oh yeah here's me goofin off with the cat. All smiles in June, we experienced a freak thunder storm here a few days back THAT SO RUDELY WOKE ME at 2 in the friggin morning. I thought A. The ~big~ earthquake B. North Korea snapped and attacked us C. Something somewhere exploded. But it turned out to be thunder and "Did you hear the thunder last night?" was usually the first thing out of someone's mouth the following day at school, but I digress.

VOTEZ S'IL VOUS PLAIT We still have a slim chance to chew bubblegum and kick ass (but be all out of bubble gum).

End Of The Night (Inspiration Board #???)/ Survery

Pictures from thefashionspot, dropsnap, google, and child of the moon.

I was tagged with a questionnaire by the very cool Don't Forget the 'Y' over at STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

What is your current obsession?
The Doors, see through clothes, Daul Kim, 'Let's Spend the Night Together', but those are all pretty constant obsessions.

What is your weirdest obsession?
A lot of my obsessions are weird, but I'd have to say my interest in witchcraft, despite the fact I don't believe in witchcraft, is the weirdest/creepiest. That and my obsession with the human body and how it works. Oh and platypuses.

What are you wearing today?
At the moment my P.E. uniform from middle school, which serves as lounge wear, but to school today I wore a random outfit with shorts, shirt, cardigan, and my Stacey Adams sandal things.

Why is today special?
So many little reasons, but mostly because I'm here in good health with a tomorrow on the calender.

What would you like to learn to do?
So many things, I suppose to be proficient at the guitar, piano, or drums. That and learn Japanese.

What’s for dinner today?
I just ate haha, I had some tri-tip with some strawberries, boiled red potatoes, green beans, and a salad with Italian dressing.

What’s the last thing you bought?
Some coffee cake at starbucks today with my friends giftcard LOL. Thanks again Ruben if you're readin.

What are you listening to right now?
The crystal ship is being filled, a thousand girls, a thousand thrills ...

What is your favorite weather?
Sunny but cold.

What is on your bedside table?
I don't have one, I just kinda slump things next to my bed. At the moment there's like a shirt for sleeping in and Harry Potter 5.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Ah, a lot actually, I set a lot of goals for myself. At this exact moment it'd be picking the right classes for next year.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
She's so badass, love her style.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Paris, basically kick Rick Owens out of his house and give it to me.

Favorite vacation spot?
The Sierras, anywhere in the mountains really, away.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
Those Rick Owens heels, LOL I'm so selfish.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Somewhere nice to catch the sunset.

Which language do you want to learn?
Japanese, like the previous question answerer.

What is your must have at the moment?
Rick Owens heels, it aint gonna happen though LOL.

One thing that you would snitch out of someone’s closet, with no regrets?
Shove my bigass feet into some poor soul's Margiela sandal boots.

What’s the favorite piece of clothing in your own closet?
I suppose my suede leather and corduroy jacket, it provides endless inspiration.

What would you like an endless supply of?
Money LOL. I'd love to change the world for the better with it, as well as buy a few things for myself of course. Inevitable inflation aside...

What are your plans for this summer?
Big Bear, San Francisco, LA, Yosemite, hanging out with friends, staying up late and sleeping in, blogging of course...

(tag 8 other people)

I tag H, Chauss, Judy, Nini, Hanh, Raych, Joanna, and Sabrina! :)

BY THE WAY GUYS, keep voting lol! I may be behind 1st place by like, 100 votes, but it's not over until it's over lol. ;-)
